DAY 1

Porsgrunn – Langesund

Consider to visit:

Langesund is a picturesque sea town, well known for its white-painted wooden buildings. The characteristic feature of its town is its elongated shape, determined by the topography. By following Vaterlandsgate from Torget all the way to Furustranda, you get a good impression of the elongated city.

Steinvika – Gea Norvegica Unesco Global Geopark – stunning hiking destination in the natural and geological reserve. Here you will find many unique species of flora fauna and fossil
Tangen fort – a magnificent vantage point overlooking the sea, leading through an area that is a natural and geological reserve. Here you will also see fortifications from the Second World War.
There are many trails leading to this place, you can reach it from the Steinvika parking or from the Skipperhuset parking in Langesund center (the road is paved and graveled).
Krogshavn – Recreational area among nature with a swimming area and infrastructure conducive to family recreation (football pitches, volleyball courts, playground, barbecue area).
Try island hopping – the Telemark coastal area is known for its many islands and archipelagos that can be visited by boat or ferry. Langesund or Brevik nearby are the best places to start.
Langøya – another nature reserve located on the island you can visit and enjoy, with a remarkable lighthouse. Take a walk and eat dinner surrounded by nature and amazing views.

Recommendation:

Have dinner at Wrightegaarden in Langesund – the restaurant and cultural center with many events and concerts, located in a historic post office building.
DAY 2

Langesund – Kragerø

Consider to visit:

Kragerø is a well-known resort for luxury vacation in the southern part of Norway. Feel the pace of life in the seashore town, full of life and joy. It is also called the town of artists, as a lot of them were bonded with this place.

Visit the Kragerø Beach Club and the big resort complex with a golf club, spa and uninterrupted relaxation.
Take a walk around the town. Visit Kragerø center, then you can take a walk towards the XIX-century town hall, and see the neo-gothic church from the same time
Go to Steinmann lookout point to admire the town’s panorama.
Indulge in art in the town of artists, visiting cozy art galleries like Gallery Nicolines House or follow in the footsteps of Edward Munch, who created several significant works during the period he lived here
Visit Gunnarsholmen – the island in the middle of the town with the remains of an old fort that protected against warships and pirates threatening the town. Nowadays it is a huge recreational area to spend active outdoor time.
For adventure seekers the Kragerø Action Park with a go-kart race track and paintball is a good choice.
Sail among the islands of the Kragerø archipelago: Skåtøy, Langøy, Bærøy, Gumøy, Tåtøy.
Visit Skåtøy – the largest island in the archipelago. Admire the diverse terrain with unforgettable views of this scenic and idyllic island.

Kragerø – Risør

Consider to visit:

Risør is one of the oldest towns in southern Norway, located between fjords. This seaside resort captivates with their white wooden architecture scattered throughout the city. It is also home to an annual wooden boat festival.

Stop in Portør, a village surrounded by scenic archipelagos. You can admire them from the view points: the Old Telegraph and the guard house – landmarks that have own story to tell (short rocky trail).
Risør: take a walk along the promenade, sinking into the atmosphere of the cozy coastal town of.
Admire picturesque surroundings from viewing points at Risørflekken or go hiking to Risør Bystrand.
Have fun in Risør Aquarium.

DAY 4

Risør – Brevik

Consider to visit:

Stop to visit Jomfruland Island for beautiful views and atmosphere. Take a walk on the beautiful hiking route through the Jomfruland National Park. Try local food in Haga Kystkafe.
Visit Bjørkøya – for a cosy dinner at Bjørkoya Food and Wine House, and a relaxing walk in the shadow of the birches (bjørk = birch).
Play golf around the greenery at Bamble Golf Club next to Stathelle.
Take a walk among the narrow streets of Brevik and enjoy its peaceful summer pace.

Recommendation:

Stop for a lunch/dinner at Sjøterrassen and enjoy the atmosphere of this idyllic place.
Have a dinner at Sjøloftet in Brevik.
DAY 5

Brevik – Helgeroa

Historically, Helgeroa was a traffic point next to Langesundfjorden between Eastern and Southern Norway. Today is a well-known summer point for the yachting community.

Admire the sunrise or sunset on the hiking trip at the view point of Lyngfjell and then continue along the Langholt Beach for unforgettable views of the sea.
Take a hiking trip to Mølen for breathtaking scenery of rocky coast with high waves, the part of Gea Norvegica National Park.

Have dinner at Helgeroa marina and enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the coastal town.
DAY 6

Helgeroa – Stavern

Stavern is a tiny seaside town that comes alive in early summer when tourists start to visit this peaceful place. Historically, Helgeroa was a traffic point next to Langesundfjorden between Eastern and Southern Norway. Today is a well-known summer point for the yachting community.

Explore hiking trails and places perfect for outdoor activities and swimming areas.
Visit beautiful Stavern fortress and lighthouse on the island next to the town, Stavernøya;
Admire the unique works of art by visiting intimate local art galleries.
You can continue your luxury vacation in Larvik for the the body and soul feast in fine-dining Ast or gourmet Attrå restaurants and Farris SPA complex.

DAY 7

Stavern – Porsgrunn

Time: 3 hours

Consider to visit:

On day 7 you will be on your way back to our base.
The journey is not over yet! Recharge battery in Brevik if needed and continue sightseeing in Porsgrunn – the city of porcelain.

Take a walk in Porsgrunn – the city of porcelain
The whole walk should take around 2h at a slow pace. If you decide to extend this trip with a visit to the museum or in churches, please consider reserving more time. We can help you arrange everything, for example ceramic workshops.

See Norway’s only porcelain factory in the west part of the city, after crossing the bridge (the museum is open until 4 pm. During the weekend there is an antique store open in the mornings).
Walk along Storgata Street and see the porcelain rollers – the installations tributing to the iconic porcelain designer, Nora Gulbrandsen.
Østre Porsgrunn Church – the porcelain-inspired new city church. This sacred building replaced the XVII century one which burnt because of arson in 2011. The group visiting can be pre-ordered.
See Our Lady of Good Counsel church – beautiful monument in Norwegian Dragestil inspired by the old Norwegian stove churches.
Porsgrunn city hall – the next artwork of Haldor Bøvre, the architect of Our Lady Church. Neoclassical building from 1905, which represents one of only a few buildings in this style that are left in Norway nowadays (the next one is in Skien).

Have a coffee in Kaffe og Thespesialen , a cafeteria established in 1962, with an amazing coffee!
DAY 8

Porsgrunn
